Position Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer leads the design, analysis, and implementation of complex electrical systems across a diverse portfolio of high-performance building design projects, including healthcare, commercial, and institutional facilities. This role ensures alignment with industry standards, sustainability goals, and client expectations while delivering innovative, efficient solutions that shape the built environment.

As a senior technical leader, you will mentor engineering staff, guide multidisciplinary collaboration, and serve as a trusted advisor on complex building systems. The Senior Electrical Engineer leads discipline-specific work on medium to large projects and may also serve as a Project Manager on select assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical discipline design for medium and large building projects, delivering innovative, code-compliant, and energy-efficient solutions (with limited use of Revit)
  • Drive the development of electrical systems supporting healthcare, commercial, and institutional building environments
  • Delegate moderate to complex tasks and provide technical oversight to project teams
  • Review and approve complex designs, calculations, and simulations
  • Review high-level product submittals and shop drawings
  • Provide detailed responses to complex Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Conduct targeted site visits to resolve critical field issues and support project execution
  • Prepare technical reports and comprehensive project documentation
  • Participate in client and project meetings as a senior technical advisor
  • Ensure project delivery meets schedule, quality, and budget objectives
  • Develop and adjust project work plans to accommodate evolving scope and client needs
  • Mentor engineers at all levels on technical standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Provide team leadership and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required

Experience

  • 9+ years of progressive experience in the AEC industry
  • Strong experience in building systems design required
  • Healthcare project experience preferred

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in multiple engineering software platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and QA/QC procedures
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems within complex building environments

Leadership & Management Skills

  • Demonstrated success leading and guiding multidisciplinary project teams
  • Proven commitment to mentoring, staff development, and technical excellence

Communication & Business Skills

  • Excellent client-facing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Skilled in technical writing and proposal contributions

Supervisory Responsibility

Acts as a senior technical advisor and mentor to electrical engineering staff. May seal and sign project documents where licensed. Responsible for the training, development, and quality oversight of electrical discipline deliverables.

Work Environment

Hybrid role that is primarily office-based with periodic site visits for field investigation and troubleshooting. Projects focus on innovative building design and construction environments. Adherence to safety protocols is required.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Site visits may require climbing ladders, navigating uneven terrain, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
